Why America Makes Me Sad Sometimes

Before I get into why America makes me sad, I must address something very important. This post is NOT ABOUT POLITICS! Politics starts wars. Cars don't. That's why I like cars more than politics.

The United States has some of the strictest automotive restrictions in safety and emissions.  One of the rules really crosses the line of safety for many automotive fans. That is the law that a car must be either similar to a car sold in the US or 25 years old in order for it to be legal to import to the United States.

Audi RS2 Avant
Normal may think that this isn't much of a crisis. However, it is a crisis to people who actually like cars. What this law does is that it allows the United States to control its safety standards, emissions standards, and either intentionally or unintentionally allow US car manufacturers to be able to compete with foreign manufacturers.

Nissan Skyline GT-R
What this law does is forbid any GT-R fanboy from importing an R34 Skyline GT-R. This puts any GT-R fanboy into a deep depression. They end up contemplating their life choices and revise their dedication to the Nissan GT-R. Some decide that they must abandon their friends and leave the GT-R fanboy group for other cars. This law has ruined friendships.

Nissan Skyline GT-R
All jokes aside though, this law sucks. It prevents car people from bringing in cars that they genuinely love. Modern TVR cars cannot be brought to the United States thanks to this law. The R34 Nissan Skyline GT-R cannot be brought to America thanks to this law. The Audi RS2 Avant cannot be brought to the United States thanks to this law. All these cars are loved by car people all around the world. The United States isn't an exception. The people who made this law must really hate car people.

TVR Sagaris
For those people who wonder what would happen if they brought an illegal car into the United States, the CBP would be happy to take it from you and crush it into a 2x2 cube.  Anyone who thinks that they are edgy and rebellious to bring an illegal car in the United States to the United States, please stop. Seeing a Skyline GT-R crushed into a 2x2 cube is saddening. It puts all car people into a deep depression when they see that image.

Should GM Make Another Aztek?

The Pontiac Aztek is well-known for its grotesque looks. It is on many people's worst cars list for a reason. However, Pontiac designed it to be a car that its costumers can take out on an adventure. GM was actually quite brilliant when it came to inserting interesting features that not only were functional but were absolutely perfect for an adventure.

Pontiac Aztek
The Pontiac Aztek was a four-wheel-drive vehicle. However, it didn't have the ground clearance of a Jeep Wrangler. This could've been a problem on very tricky hills and rocky slopes, but the Aztek was very capable on basic camp trails. If GM were to remake the Aztek, it could benefit from better ground clearance and locking differentials. That way, it could reach more places.

Pontiac Aztek
One important thing that they really need to change is the looks. The same man who designed the Pontiac Aztek also designed the C7 Corvette. The man could've done better when designing the original Aztek, but it feels like he didn't really want to try. The looks didn't provide any function. Nor, did they visually appeal to the customer. The car looked like a Humpback Whale. The headlights were those stupid two piece things that you find on the world's ugliest cars, the Nissan Juke and the Jeep Cherokee. They have those two piece head lights and they too look absolutely horrendous. The back just looked foolish. The shape of the car was extremely odd. It was a hatchback sort of design, but it was tall. If GM decides to redesign the Aztek, they need to make it visually appealing.
Pontiac Aztek

One thing that GM shouldn't get rid of is the idea of having an adventure. The Aztek would've been brilliant at taking the family out on a vacation. The glove box was a cooler, and it worked properly. It was portable too. It isn't like those stupid luxury cars with their slightly cold box that is pretty useless. The cooler could be used as storage too with coin slots and CD holders. Not only was this great for the family vacation, but great for everyday use. The tailgate had a bench with built in seats and cupholders. This meant it encouraged tailgates at Football games. Not even Range Rovers have those.
Pontiac Aztek

The Pontiac Aztek had an epic party trick. It came with a tent and air mattress. I have never seen any other car that came with a tent. I have never slept in an Aztek before, but based on images I found on the internet, it looks quite comfortable. The Aztek had a clever way of storing the tent. It went into a container that lied flat on the ground so it didn't interfere with life.
Pontiac Aztek

The Pontiac Aztek would've been a great hit if it weren't so ugly. I am sure that it would sell if GM remakes it correctly.

Why No One Wants to Buy An Acura NSX?

It seems to me that everyone hates the Acura NSX. Sales aren't doing to well, and it is a little hard to see why at first. The Acura NSX has a futuristic feel. The driving experience is amazing too. Why doesn't anyone like the new Acura NSX?

Honda NSX
By ilikewaffles11

The old Acura NSX was somewhat inexpensive for what you were getting, practical, fun to drive, and simple. The new Acura NSX is NONE OF THOSE. An original NSX started at 79,500 dollars. This new one starts at 156,000 dollars. That sounds significantly more expensive that the old one. This pricing is not competitive at all. The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 starts at around 80,000 dollars and it has 650 horsepower. The Nissan GTR, also know as Godzilla, starts at around 110,000 dollars. The Porsche 911 GT3, built for corners and the track, starts at around 144,000 dollars. The Mercedes Benz AMG GT S, a comfortable supercar that can throw corners, starts at 131,000 dollars. The Dodge Challenger Demon starts at 85,000 dollars and has 840 horsepower. It will smoke the NSX in a quarter mile any day. All of the choices mentioned earlier are practical, cheaper than the Acura NSX, and are fun to drive.
Acura NSX
By Lafuzion

One of the biggest problems of the new NSX is that nobody ever asked for any fancy technology. They just wanted the good old driving thrills of the original NSX. They expected a regular gasoline RWD powertrain paired with a manual transmission, not some fancy schmancy all wheel drive hybrid powertrain system. This ruins driving. They have all these assists going that it isn't real driving anymore. The original NSX was just car and driver (no pun intended). The new NSX is is an engineering masterpiece, but it isn't a true NSX. This was built so some rich fool could buy one and drive it without going off a cliff. It's not like any rich fool would buy an Acura either. They would buy a Nissan GTR or a Lamborghini. Why would they opt for some Acura?

Acura NSX
By Latvian98

Practicality doesn't seem to be the new NSX's strong suit. There are clip on cupholders instead of real cupholders. The trunk space is absolutely tiny. It is easily outmatched by a Corvette, which is much cheaper, much more practical, and much better. It is far too expensive. It isn't as fun as the original NSX, which is probably the biggest disappointment of all.
Found On Pintrest

The original NSX was Honda's piece of the pie in the 90s JDM shootout with the R34 Nissan GTR, Mazda RX7, and the Toyota Supra. Toyota better take the the NSX as a lesson when developing the new Supra. Give the fans what they want.

Luckily for Acura, I have a step by step plan to fix this massive failure.
1. Don't label this NSX an NSX; label it something else because this isn't what the fans want or get rid of the car entirely
2. Figure out what the fans what: good value, practical, fun to drive
3. Build it and do it right

Why the BMW M2 is the Best M Car

BMW has been known as a car brand that makes luxury performance cars that are fun to drive. They have created some icons such as the original BMW M3 and the BMW 2002. The next icon may be the BMW M2, a back to basics M car.

BMW M2

The BMW M2 brings back the M spirit that many die hard M fans have been waiting for. It is light, small, quick, and nippy. All the other M cars are just expensive cars with flashy motors that bear the M badge. They are fast, but they are not as alive  or full of spirit as the BMW M2. The BMW M2 is actually small and light, just like the original BMW M3, the car that started the entire M lineup and brought many smiles to faces.

Original BMW M3
The Father of All M Cars

It isn't just the small size that excites die hard M fans. It is the power. The driver can actually use all the 365 horsepower on a daily basis. If someone buys a 560 horsepower BMW M6 (shown below), they can't use any of it because they are stuck in traffic jams. The power in the BMW M2 is a sweet spot. It makes the car quick because there is plenty of power for the tiny little car. It also makes fuel efficiency better than a big brawny BMW M6 because it is a smaller engine.

One of the best parts of the BMW M2 is that it includes more people into the M scene. It starts at around 50 grand.  This is much more affordable compared to the BMW M3, which starts at 64 grand. Of course, people could also get a used BMW M car. However, they may never experience what a true M car is.

The BMW M2 is one of the best M cars. It is a back to basics M car that brings back the true M spirit. It is fun and easy to drive. It is quick, more efficient than many other M cars, and provides a perfect amount of power for fun and practical use.

The New Camry Is Ridiculous

Many people buy the Toyota Camry for its reliability, price, and practicality. However, in the recent years, Toyota has turned this once boring family car into something that looks more sporty. They did an excellent job last year without overdoing it, but the one recently released at the Detroit International Auto Show looks ridiculous. It has over the top aggressive looks without the performance to match it.

Toyota Camry
By Autoblog
The model that they seem to be most proud of the most is the XSE model. This specific model represents something that people with no taste would do to their car. The front end of this so called family car is a joke. It seems like Toyota was trying to create a throwback to the 2007 Toyota Camry. The grill looks like a botched up Lexus grill that went through plastic surgery to make it look better and plastic surgery again to fix the previous results because it was botched. It looks like the second surgery didn't go very well. The XLE model has a massive grill that looks like a razor or a rapper with diamonds on their teeth grinning. It is terrible.  Apart from the grills, it looks okay, but slightly too aggressive.

Toyota Camry
By Toyota
The rear end is not only overly aggressive, but also has a huge smell of being fake. The little fake vents beneath the lights on the XSE model would look great on a Corvette but not on some front wheel drive family car. However, the thing that gets me the most is the quad exhaust tips. This looks like something someone with no taste would add to their Toyota Camry. Quad exhaust tips look amazing on the Audi R8, but they look corny on a Camry. Not only that, but the quad exhaust tips are tiny, which slightly kills the "sporty" feel that Toyota is trying to introduce to future Camry buyers.

Image result for 2018 toyota camry
Toyota Camry
By Car and Driver
The biggest problem I have with cars like these is that they don't drive as "sporty" as they look. These  "sporty" elements do not belong on a front wheel drive family sedan. They belong on a Lamborghini or at least something rear wheel drive or has a performance all wheel drive. Toyota should've known better than to create a car with such a big ego. People who feel that the car is too aggressive will go for something like a Honda Accord. However, the LE model has not been released yet. That is Toyota's chance to make sure Camry buyers who don't want TINY quad exhaust tips or stupid razor blade grills with still buy the Camry. It may have to be a bit boring because all this "excitement" may seem too much for some people, who just want a commuter car that gets them from point a to b.

Toyota Camry Interior
By Toyota
Despite the awful exterior, Toyota still knows how to design an interior. There is a good amount of movement, but button placement is still logical, easy to find, and not overcrowded. There are still big comfortable seats that remind you that the Camry should be about comfort and practicality rather than sportiness because that isn't a market where the Camry belongs.

The Toyota Camry belongs in a market where people who don't want sportiness and just want a simple car to carry their family around or to commute to work. This is what Toyota has been creating for the last 35 years. Despite most of the article telling Toyota to stop making the Camry too exciting, the SE model should still be around for younger people who don't want a boring car, except less overly aggressive and without a sense of Toyota being a try hard.

10 Most Dangerous Cars

Modern cars are much safer than before. This may be because auto makers have learned from their mistakes before. Here are 10 of the most dangerous cars.

1. Ford Bronco II

Ford Bronco II
Found On LOLWOT
It seems like any car made by Ford with the II at the end is absolute garbage. One great example is the Ford Bronco II. It was intended to be a rugged and agile SUV. It has a similar issue to the car in the number 4 spot, the Suzuki Samurai. The Ford Bronco II was very top heavy. It also had a very faulty suspension made during the time when Ford wasn't at its best. With these 2 factors, the Ford Bronco II was very prone to rollover resulting in many deaths.

2. Chevrolet Covair

Chevrolet Corvair
Found on LOLWOT
The Chevrolet Corvair is a rear engine car. Today, rear wheel drive cars are much safer. However, back in the day, the Corvair was infamous for having spin outs and crashing. What didn't help is that Chevrolet decided not to spend a few dollars to make the rear axle more manageable. This was a bad choice once again made by the money driven executives of General Motors. What really didn't help is that Corvair wasn't safe for a collision. Ralph Nader called the Cheverlot Corvair unsafe at any speed. The Corvair had some classic GM quality issues that could be deadly such as the lovely heating system that would pump noxious fumes into the cabin.

3. Yugo GV

Yugo GV
Found on LOLWOT
The Yugo GV is the butt of many car jokes because it is terrible in every possible way except for being a cheap piece of garbage. The Yugo started at around 4,000 dollars when it was brand new. If you thought the Mazda MX-5 was light, then the Yugo compared to it is a feather. This may be the reason why a woman found her Yugo blown off a bridge when a 55 mph gust hit Michigan. The Yugo was a very poorly built car made from cheap materials, so safety wasn't exactly outstanding.

4. Suzuki Samurai

Suzuki Samurai SJ410 photographed in Sérres, Greece.jpg
Suzuki Samurai
By Sermac.gr
The Suzuki Samurai is one of the best offroaders ever. The reason why it is so good is because it is just like a Jeep Wrangler. It is a basic offroader that is reliable, tough, and compact. Its advantage over Jeeps is the tiny size. However, due to it's tall and skinny shape, this thing is prone to roll over. Anyone who made aggressive lane changes and sharp u-turns often found themselves on the side regretting their decisions to try to cut off that 1996 Honda Civic.

5. Ford Pinto

Ford Pinto.jpg
Ford Pinto
By Morven
The Ford Pinto is an infamous car. Anyone who rear ends it will cause a fire. The reason is because of the stupid design. The fuel tank is too close to the weak bumper. This means when someone rear ends a Pinto, the gas tank may start leaking. The only thing it needs now is an ignition that will make the Ford Pinto into a scene from a Micheal Bay movie. Weak bumpers and vulnerable structure is also part of the problem. The only way for the Pinto to not catch on fire is to bolt on a highway barrier to the back of this horrible example of Ford in the 70s.

6. Chinese Cars

Some Chinese Car
Found on LOLWOT
Many Chinese cars are terribly unsafe. There are so many of them that I just put it into one category. Chinese cars are very poorly made vehicles. The materials used are not sufficient to provide proper protection of the occupants inside the car. Many Chinese cars get crushed like a tin can. This means that there is no space for the occupant to survive. There is a bright side to this though and that is that they are still improving so there is hope that they will be safer and better.

7. Audi 5000

Audi 5000
Found on LOLWOT
Audi is now known as a brand that makes some of the finest luxury cars. However, that wasn't always what they was known for. The Audi 5000 is the perfect example of Audi's reputation in the 80s. The car would all of a sudden lurch forward without being asked to. This caused a lot of surprise and panic in drivers sitting at a red light. Audi denied that it was serious enough to cause accidents. However, this fault caused 1,000 accidents and 6 deaths.

8. Hyundai Pony

Hyundai Pony
Found on LOLWOT
The Hyundai Pony is an example of what Hyundai used to be and how much they have come along. This Hyundai is very poorly built. Like the Chinese cars and the Yugo mentioned earlier, the Hyundai Pony used cheap materials. These materials made it so that there is barely any crash protection. It means that if someone drives a Hyundai Pony and gets into an accident, they are likely going to be seriously injured unless some miracle happens. This piece of junk crumples up like when someone stamps on a Pepsi can after they are done drinking it.

9. Pontiac Fiero

Pontiac Fiero
Found on LOLWOT
The Pontiac Fiero should have been could the Pontiac Fireo. It may have passed all the safety tests conducted, but it still was considered dangerous because it liked to catch on fire. If the car was low on oil, it may cause a rod to break leaking oil. The oil may come into contact with engine parts. The oil would catch fire if it touched a hot exhaust manifold or hot exhaust components. This major design flaw set 260 Fieros ablaze. Luckily, no one was killed.

10. Cheverlot Cobalt

Cheverlot Cobalt
By Car and Driver
The Chevrolet Cobalt is an infamous example of old General Motor's level of care for customers. The Chevrolet Cobalt was recalled multiple times and was a subject of one of the most infamous car scandals. The first recall was because of the headlight shield that could cause glare in oncoming traffic. The next recall was because the car didn't pass the side impact safety test, so GM bolted some plastics on. The next recall was a faulty clip in the automatic transmission that would allow the car to roll away in Park. Then, GM recalled the Cobalt for a faulty fuel pump that could cause the car to burst on fire. After that, GM recalled the Cobalt AGAIN for a faulty power steering system that makes the car harder to turn at low speeds. In 2012, the Cobalt was unsurprisingly recalled once again for the fuel pump. It is as if they never fixed it. Then in 2014, the Cobalt was recalled unsurprisingly ONCE AGAIN for the faulty ignition switches issue that would cause the car to go into accessory mode. I truly wonder what is next for this dangerous car.

5 Things That You Should Never Do To Your Car That You Probably Do

In America, the car is a necessity. Instead of public transport, cars are the main form of transport. Being the main form of transportation, people do things to their car that just makes their car cry. Here are 5 things you should never do to your car.

1. Immediately Driving After The Car Starts

Car
Immediately driving after the car starts is something I am sure that you do everyday. However, doing this could cause premature wear to the engine. Cars are expensive. Causing premature wear to the engine is something that could cost you a lot more money in the future. The reason why this happens is because of the oil. It takes about 10 to 15 seconds on a new car and 20 seconds on an older car in order for the oil to get to the critical places. Just wait 15 to 20 seconds and you would drive off knowing that you are not causing premature wear that could be easily avoided with patience.

2. Not Warming The Car Up

Warming the car up is key to making sure the car runs right. However despite knowing this, some people still push their car when it isn't at proper operation. When a car is pushed and it is not at operating temperature, the oil is stripped away from the cylinders and pistons therefore causing a damage. The best way to make sure the car runs right is to warm it up by driving it with low revs and low throttle. That way the engine isn't being pushed and the fuel to air ratio goes back to normal after about 20 minutes.

3. Putting In The Wrong Recommended Fuel

Many people have a belief that if you put premium gas into a car that is supposed to run on regular gas that the car will have better fuel economy and better power. However, that is not true. If a car is supposed to run on regular, put regular in. There is not benefit with premium. It is just more expensive. If the car is recommended to use premium, then use premium. Only in a car that recommends premium fuel is when the car gives more power and better gas mileage on premium.

4. Not Reading The Owner's Manual

File:1983 Chrysler Town & Country station wagon at 2015 Macungie show 5of5.jpg
Owner's Manual
By CZmarlin
People often don't read the owner's manual. This is a terrible mistake. The owner's manual contains everything you need to know about the car in order to make sure it runs right. The owner's manual contains all the fuses that should be used, all the different fluid types, when to change the fluids, how to use the infotainment system, how to install some simple accessories correctly, ect. All this information is key to making sure that the car runs right and that you are safe.

5. Not Inspecting It Often Enough

Inspecting your car is a big deal. It could save your life and could also save you from a ticket. It takes literally 5 minutes to make sure your car is running like it is supposed to. Check the lights and the hazards to make sure that they are working. They could save your life and could save you from an unnecessary ticket. Inspecting your tire is a great way to know if the tires are good and if you need new ones. Simple fluid checks make sure that all the fluids are in tip top shape. These things could help make sure your car runs better and lasts longer.
